Review of A Smile in a Whisper

Another great book by this author. I love her books and this one was no exception! This is the story of Evie and Nick and has a character driven plot. I love a second chance romance and a dual timeline and this book utilizes both of these. Evie has Crohn’s disease and the impacts of this on her life are described in great detail in the book. Nick has some mental health issues and these were also addressed. I appreciated how both characters’ medical issues were dealt with in regards to their impacts on their physical and psychological health. These often debilitating health issues were described with sensitivity and respect. The setting of the Orkney Islands and the description of the customs and traditions of the residents was interesting. The main characters were well written and it was great to see how they matured and the direction their lives took over the years. Be sure to add this one to your TBR!
