What a great debut book! This is a compelling family drama story that is heartfelt and engaging. Mickey and Arlo are half sisters and they have never met. After the death of their father they are thrust into each other’s lives not knowing initially that they are sisters. Their deceased father had been a terrible example of parenting and as a result both women bear the scars of that in various dysfunctional and addicting ways. As they come to terms with their personal issues they also confront what their upbringing has cost them in never knowing each other. I appreciated the personal growth in both Arlo and Mickey as the book progressed. The secondary characters were an important component of the story and really helped round out the well written plot. Overall an impressive debut novel!
