Review of The Vanishing Half

This was an amazing novel about twin sisters. The girls are raised in a black community and when they are sixteen they run away. One sister returns to her hometown and the other girl moves far away. This was an interesting story that highlights racial division. One sister marries a wealthy man and passes herself off as white. It was a big difference between the sister’s circumstances. One sister is back in their hometown with all the problems they tried to escape. The one concept of the story with the one twin living as a white woman was really intriguing and so disheartening that she felt she had to cover up her heritage. This definitely was an important aspect of the story. Definitely one of my favourite books so far this year.
