I loved this book! Some of it was a bit of a stretch but overall I really liked the book. The story was fast paced and well written and is a great bingeable read! My full review will be on the blog later today. This was my first book by this author so now I need to read her other books. I highly recommend this one if you love domestic suspense.
One Year Gone by Avery Bishop. Thank you @averybishopbooks for sending this free book for review - my way. I loved the author’s last book Girl Gone Mad and I really liked this one too. This book revolves around a missing 17 year old girl and her parents’ search for her. The story is told by different POVs and it goes back a year and to present day. The suspense was sustained throughout the book but really ramped up toward the end. There were some twists here that I didn’t see
This was a fun one! Amelia has spent all her time working at a law firm. After quitting her job, after realizing she couldn’t deal with the sexist work environment, she discovered she had no friends and had been doing nothing but working. Millie throws herself a birthday party and is heartbroken when no one attends - except one person that she doesn’t even know. John and Amelia spend time together and he convinces her to start an apology project by making amends with people s
This is the third book in a series and I have read and enjoyed all of them. The books are light, fun reading. The central character is a busy mom who ends up being room mom for her son’s class. She is snarky and cynical but over all very kind hearted. I’m sad that this series is over but am looking forward to more from this author.
Haven Point started out slowly for me. It took a few chapters for me to get into the story. This a character driven novel with different timelines for three generations of the family. I found Maren’s story the slowest and a bit long. I definitely was more invested in Skye’s story. As the book progressed I was more engaged especially as the intrigue built. This is an interesting book that is perfect for beach reading.
This is one of my favourite authors and I love her new book. The atmospheric writing and setting contribute to the suspense in the story. Stevie and her boyfriend set out for a new life on an African island where Jacob will work for a diving company. The seclusion and the other people on the island soon cause Stevie to wonder what they have gotten into. There was definitely a big twist at the end that I didn’t see coming. I think this is Roz’s best book yet. Make sure to add
I am a fan of this author’s books so I was thrilled when this one arrived. This book is a departure from her last one as this is more of a domestic suspense story. Olivia is stunned when her nephew, Josh, shows up at her door. Due to family estrangement Olivia has never met her 13 year old nephew. It soon becomes apparent that something has happened to Josh and his mother and Olivia sets out to solve where her sister is. As the story progresses we realize what a mess Olivia’s
I knew the Vietnam War had been very divisive in the US and this historical fiction novel details what the country was going through at this time. This book is told through a woman’s eyes which was a very refreshing take on this time period. I really felt I was immersed in the story and the differing and controversial viewpoints. This book is so compelling and well written and I was really invested in the story. The tension was palpable as Judy, the main character, navigates
Another amazing book from one of my favourite authors. This is a story about a family with a lot of problems! There are having their house egged, and an attempt to burn it down - with them inside. As these incidents escalate they try and figure out which family member has enemies. The problem is they are all candidates for causing the problem. This is a book I tore through. Each family member was interesting and the pacing and plot were great. Make sure you add this to your T
This was definitely a fast paced suspense filled book. I liked the twists that kept popping up throughout the story! They certainly kept me guessing. This was such a change from the author’s last book, After The End, which I loved. It was so interesting to see the change in the writing style although I’m aware that this book is along the lines of her previous books.
